40 Days of Compassion

The Passionate Pursuit of Unity

…you are forgiven of your sins

End Of The Road

End Of The Road

Last evening, towards the end of my church’s Maundy Thursday service, all present gathered round the altar in a circle. Following instruction by Pastor Dan, one by one, each member turned to the fellow to his or her left, made the sign of the cross upon their forehead and declared, “In the name of Jesus Christ, your sins are forgiven.”

It was a very powerful moment for me, to witness my fellow congregants offering God’s forgiveness to one another on such a personal level, as well as receiving my own forgiveness from a new member, Barry. It drove home exactly what I feel we here at 40 Days Of Compassion have been striving to do- that being, showing compassion, forgiveness and love to our neighbors.

I am thankful for this community of seekers from different communities, this online congregation. I thank you for all that you have divulged, the inner thoughts and private concerns and joys you have shared and allowed me to comment on. I’m better for having gone through this forty day journey and I hope you feel the same way.

As this weekend brings about the glad tidings of Easter, today’s entry will be my last. I will continue to read entries as they are posted and hope that you have all been as positively affected by this process as I have. Thank you to Jason and Christian for organizing this and inviting me and all my best to you all in your continued life’s journeys.

A Blessed Easter To You All!
